2. Skills of Ancient India: Shared Physical Modalities in Hindu Wrestling, Martial Arts, and Yoga with Riki Warren and Eddie Stern
February 19th, 26th, March 5th, 12th 7:00-8:30am EST
The dialogue between Yoga and physical practices of Hindu spiritual traditions such as wrestling and Kalari has been occurring in India for centuries—if not longer—with a tremendous sharing of methodologies and cross-discipline inspiration. On Feb. 19th, my good friend Riki Warren, who has a BA in Biology, is a Guinness Book record holder, and expert in all of these movement fields, will begin teaching a
four-week course on the shared modalities of these traditions. There will be lots of Yoga practices, dands (different types of Hindu push-ups and flowing forms) and other practices for both strength and mobility. As Lord Hanuman is the deity that both wrestlers and martial artists invoke for strength and devotion, we'll spend the second part of each class learning the Hanuman Chalisa, doing pranayama (Hanuman is the son of Vayu, the wind God) and other mantras. There will be no Primary Series
class for these four Fridays. We'd be way too tired to do both!

3. Primary Series Instructional Videos
Several years ago, I filmed an 18-part Primary Series instructional program that broke down the Primary Series into small groups of postures, with different ways of doing the poses and getting into them depending on your body, level, and experience. Each video is 20 minutes long, and the final video is a full length guided Primary class. Deepak Chopra gives an introductory talk at the start of the program, and there
are additional, short lessons throughout the series addressing different aspects of practice and yoga philosophy. Up until now, these videos were available as part of a subscription plan with Healthwire.fm, but we have moved them out from the subscription plan and you can now purchase all of the videos on their own for $19.99. They are streamable to your devices and can also be downloaded for you to use whenever you
like. There is a lot of information in the videos, and they are fun to use. You’ll just have to excuse the fact that I am wearing Reebok t-shirts and shorts for this series. Consider it a blip on my fashion record.
Here is the link for the Primary Series Instructional Videos.
4. Have you tried Yoga365?
It's still free for Healthcare workers–let us know if you are one, and we will send you a link.
Thank you very much, and I look forward to seeing you online!
Yours,
Eddie
