The Yoga Sutra Discussion group returns, starting this Saturday, January 9th, at 9:30am EST. These classes will be recorded for those in different time zones.
The first 12 weeks of the discussion group will cover the first 11 sutras of the Sadhana Pada, the Kriya Yoga Sutras of the second chapter of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. I will co-teach this course with my friend Harshvardhan Jhaveri. After the course completes, I'll continue with the remaining sutras until sutra 27, and then Harshvardhan will join me again for the
Ashtanga Yoga Sutras.
Please see below for the details of the course, and topics for each week. As with all of the Yoga Sutra and Yoga classes, this course is by donation as per your ability. If you cannot afford to donate at this time, please don't worry, attend anyway, we will be happy to have you.
As well, you may live in a country where you cannot use PayPal or have banking transactions with the US. One of our students in Iran donates to a local charity since she cannot donate to the yoga classes. This is a great trade off, as far as I am concerned!

Kriyā Yoga Sūtrāṇi
This 12-week lecture series will discuss and investigate Patañjali’s Kriyā Yoga Sūtras, 2.1 – 2.11. We will cover the threefold process, the intention and outcome of the practice and a study of pañca kleśa (the five afflictions).
Each session will cover one sūtra for study and will conclude with the practice of Kriyā Yoga as per the Kaivalyadham tradition* that Harshvardhan is trained in (60 minutes in all – 40 minutes of study + 20 minutes of practice).
