Hello Folks,Â
Â
As mentioned in our last email, Dr. Stephen Porges, the scientist who has proposed the immensely influential PolyVagal Theory, reached out to me and asked if I would share the below with you all. His research group has developed a survey dealing with responses to Covid-19 and how the crisis influences our mental health and sense of purpose. Their research could help give insight to therapists about what they
might expect to see as a result of this pandemic, and help guide how mental health care is provided to those who have experienced mental, emotional, and physical challenges or traumas.
Â
Please click here if you would like to participate in the survey.Â
Â
Stephen is also seeking therapists for his Traumatic Stress Research Consortium. This is an innovative, worldwide group of clinicians focusing on advancing new research to understand the experiences of trauma survivors and the clinicians who work with them. Information can be found here.Â
Â
We also wanted to share a few links with you:
Â
1. Healthwire.fm (the site that I have my yoga videos on) is offering complimentary access to the website for the next 60 days. There is a diverse amount of content on the site, and if you care to check any of it out, here is the link for access. It's an easy site to dip in and out of for short talks and
practices.Â
Â
2. My old friend and philosophy teacher Shyam Ranganathan has a wonderful online yoga philosophy course that he is offering free during this time as well. You can find out about the course here and contact him directly to sign up here. He's a wonderful teacher and fantastic human being.
Â
3. If you are interested in learning more about pranayama, our dear friend Petra in Zagreb is a very skilled teacher. Her yoga school suffered great damage in the earthquake just last week, and we would like to support their continued offerings by letting you know about her pranayama classes, and the peace-meditations of Marco, her husband. Info can be found here.Â
Â
That's all for now. We'll be back in touch in a week or so, we don't want to add more to everyone's already overfilled inboxes. We've read that during this crisis people are tending towards two extremes: to either check-out, or over do-it. We have to make sure that even in the lockdown we can strike a balance. So we send these links in the spirit of balance!Â
Â
Our weekly schedule is up here, and we'll post the next schedule on Sunday. Yoga Sutras study group begins Friday.
Â
Â
With love,
Eddie and JocelyneÂ
Â
PS. Happy Passover, Hanuman's birthday, and Easter!Â
