Dear Friends,
After careful consideration and discussions with Hubertus Hoffman and the temple board, we have decided to cancel tomorrow evening’s program that I had sent an
email about yesterday.
Please note that I will no longer send messages about the temple programming to you, as you are signed up for the yoga mailing list, and I am sorry that I conflated these two. This newsletter will continue as usual to be yoga class schedule and event information only.
About why we decided to not hold tomorrow's event:
Our world is currently in an extremely fragile state. Our intent behind Tuesday’s program was to have an open dialogue among faith based leaders to discuss and
celebrate tolerance, and the meanings of tolerance.
However, several devotees of the temple pointed out a political undercurrent of the event creeping in that we did not intend for, and did not want to have enter the temple. The temple is a sanctuary and safe space for all, especially in times of
turbulence. We will not align nor move forward with an event that could possibly shift that or put that in question.
The stated mission of the temple is that we aim to be a place where
“... One can step out of the chaos of life for a few minutes and find refuge, peace, blessings, and commune with divinity within and without.”
And where
“... Seekers of all traditions can connect with culture, celebrations, milestones, practices, and daily worship.”
We are pausing the event and will organize, at a later date, an evening of interfaith dialogue that can represent the original intent of this evening in its truest form
In lieu of the event, the temple will be open for a silent meditation from 6:30pm-7pm for all who would like to join. For those who requested Zoom links for the evening, we will live stream the meditation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With our apologies,
Eddie and Shruti (assistant director of the temple)
