The Ganesha
Festival is going on full swing, I'm so bummed I am missing these first days. This weekend we will hold two super special events. On Saturday we will be making small Ganesha's out of turmeric, which is one of the traditional ways of worshipping Ganesh during this holiday. We then offer flower petals with the 1001 names of Ganesha to the small turmeric deities.
Then on Sunday, we will do, for the first time in NYC, the Ganesha Visarjana ceremony, where the turmeric Ganesha's are offered back to the elements. To do this, we will have a processional from the temple to the Hudson River, about a 20-minute walk or so, and offer the little turmeric Ganesha's into the Hudson. It is non-polluting, sustainable, and causes no harm to the river or
environment. Please join in if you can, it is a super fun and joyous ceremony!
The festival is being live-streamed on IG Live only (@broomestreetganesh)
