Hello,
Friends!
🧘♂️ Our Sunday class has received a great upgrade with
the addition of Anuj Godhani leading us in a ten-minute sound meditation before we start the class. Please join us, if you'd like, on Sunday at 8:20am for the short sound meditation. This will be followed by the usual Sunday pranayama, adapted primary, and intermediate postures class, which will begin at 8:30am. https://eddiestern.com/schedule-3/
🧑🎓 Also up this week and next is a
special immersion with Harshvardhan Jhaveri, visiting from Mumbai. Harsh will teach a classical Hatha Yoga class from the teachings of Kaivalyadham, India. The class meets on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week and next from 10:30-11:30am. https://eddiestern.com/product/classical-yoga/
🔬Our Mini-Immersion continues this week with practices for
the knees and hips. Recordings of the classes from the first two weeks are available for all who register. Monday is a moon day, so no class that day - we'll start Tuesday this week. https://eddiestern.com/product/one-hour-asana-in-person/
😮 In the midst of my dissertation research, I found two,
interesting papers (here and here) which showed that, generally speaking, practicing asanas has a good effect, practicing asanas with pranayama has a broader effect, and practicing yoga along with receiving education in the ethical principles of yoga may have an even fuller, longer-lasting effect than practicing only asanas. This is an emerging aspect of yoga research that I hope to pursue further, and an approach to teaching (and practicing) yoga that I wish to focus in on more deeply. So, I find this
request from my biomedical research professor, Sat Bir Khalsa, PhD, very interesting. I'll be taking this survey today! Please read below:
A survey request: Ethical principles and Spirituality of Yoga Practitioners
Dear Yoga practitioners,
We are interested in the interconnection of yoga related ethics and different indicators of spirituality. Therefore, we invite you to
anonymously respond to our twenty-minute online survey. Maybe this is a good opportunity to reflect on your own experiences, perceptions, and behaviors.
