Notes on our temple inspiration: 

 

Jocelyne and I have been traveling to India since the mid-1980's. It's where we learned yoga, and where our spiritual lives took root and came alive. Throughout the years we've been visiting holy places, taking photos, and most importantly creating imprints of the feelings of the places we've visited—it's truly the mood that a temple evokes which is transformative and elevating. I'd just like to share a couple of examples below from where we've drawn inspiration for the new Broome Street Temple. 

 

The first is a photo from the Babulnath Temple in Mumbai. The festival Ganesha and floors were two parts of our inspiration for the photo directly below it. The temple floors themselves were inspired by the ISKCON temple in Vrindavan in the third photo down. 

 

 

The temple bell photo below is the entrance to the Pancha Kedar Linga temple at the Omkareshvara Temple Ukhimath. Jocelyne took this photo during the last Namarupa Yatra, and we recreated it below to remind us of the journey we had to Kedarnath. The first photo is, of course, the original, the second is our homage to it. 

 

 

We still have a lot to finish, but it's coming along, and hope that as it develops it becomes a place that channels the sacred energy of India and becomes a true home where the Devas are propitiated.

2. Expanded Schedule 

 

Starting this week we will add on Tuesday and Thursday Self-Paced Practice from 6:30-9am, and pranayama on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30am on Zoom and in-person. There will be no additional increase to the in-person fees for the additional classes (and Zoom of course will continue to be by donation). To balance my teaching schedule with ongoing projects and my personal studies, I will teach three weeks out of each month, 6 days per week, and take the last week of each month off from teaching for my studies. Let's see how it goes... 

 

3. Last Call on BST Ramones Tees

 

The Broome Street Temple will be releasing a new logo and t-shirt design in the beginning of March—it's super fun, and we love it. As we move into our new incarnation, we will do one last run of our classic tee for this year, with a limited edition holiday version in December, but not until then. You can use this link to pre-order your shirt(s). If you would like to get some wholesale to sell at your school, please let us know. 

 

 

4. Full Moon is February 16th :)
